When
was the first time you thought about priesthood?
The first time I seriously thought about
the priesthood was when I was on a Steubenville
East retreat during the summer of my sophomore
year. I was inspired but the example of
the priests and the reverence shown towards
the Blessed Sacrament.
What
were major Catholic activities you participated
in prior to the Seminary?
I went twice to Steubenville East Youth
Conferences while I was in high school.
What
is your favorite Scripture passage? Why?
The Bread of Life discourse in John 6 because
of how clear Our Lord speaks about the Blessed
Sacrament.
What
would you say to a young man who feels he
may have a vocation?
Definitely speak to a priest about your
possible vocation.
Is
Seminary formation what you thought it would
be?
I honestly had no idea what the Seminary
would be like when I entered, but I am quite
pleased with what I found.
What
would people be surprised to know about
you?
That I am studying to be a priest!
Did
anyone invite you to consider priesthood?
Yes, some of the sisters that taught me
in grade school and high school at Sacred
Heart.
What
influence (if any) did John Paul II have
on your vocation?
A great influence because I read his book
"Gift and Mystery" when I was
discerning and it inspired me and gave me
direction.
Please
describe the importance of prayer in your
life?
Prayer is what sustains me. Prayer focuses
me on what is truly important. Without I
lose sight of my ultimate goal: Salvation.
What
signs led you to believe that God was calling
you to be a priest?
The joy that I would receive from attending
Mass and that was something I could see
myself doing happily for the rest of my
life.
What
is your day like in the seminary?
My day at the Seminary is great. It starts
with Mass, followed by breakfast and classes,
lunch and then perhaps another class, in
the remainder of the afternoon there is
usually sports or the gym, vespers, dinner,
homework, relaxation, and then getting ready
to do it again
the next day. |
